Two Weeks

Has our baby girl really been here two weeks? It's been such a lovely, exhausting and at times challenging blur. I had forgotten how enchanting the smell is of a newborn baby, how endearing their little cuddles and how soft their hair and skin is against yours. It definitely balances out the stinky smells. I was of the understanding that boys were the ones who you had to deal with pee going everywhere as soon as that diaper came off. I was wrong.

We were so blessed the last two weeks to have my Mom here. My Dad was here the first week and then he flew back to get her and drive them home. Will was in Heaven having his Nana and Poppa around and at his beck and call. It made the absence of us while we were at the hospital and the transition of bringing baby Sissy home more bearable for him. Thank you so much Mom and Dad for everything you did the last two weeks. We couldn't have done it without you and are so grateful for you both.

We are all so very much in love with our sweet little Laura. Even her big brother is starting to grow attached and more okay with the idea of her staying. Ha! We've made it 24 plus hours now without my parents here and so far the four of us are doing just fine and improving.

Our family four. Saying that, well writing it, is defining. It makes us feel old, but it's a good kind of old. It's a beautiful place of completion and joy. It is worth every wrinkle and stretch mark. I love my family.

Ali, thanks so much for making the time to keep posting on this blog. We just love, love, love hearing from you when we are so far away. And we loved every minute of our time together. I'm sure Nate's glad to be back to one woman in the house

Love you, dear daughter,
Mom

You mean, your parents took Laura home with them? The pic says "Nana, Poppa, and Laura right before THEY left." I didn't think you'd give her up! j/k

I love how Laura is waving in her photos ... the one of her with Nate and the one of your parents leaving! ha! Social little gal already!
