Weekend Whirlwind
We just finished our whirlwind of a weekend. We left Friday morning (my birthday) to drop Bailey off at the puppy hotel and get on the road to Willow Grove, PA. What is in Willow Grove, PA some of you may ask? Nate's cousin Joe's retirement ceremony at the Naval Base there. We got there just in time and were grateful baby Will slept the majority of the way. I sang the national anthem to a room full of people saluting me, oh wait, they were saluting the flag behind me. Will sat through the ceremony and made everyone think he's a great baby because he barely made a sound and just looked around taking in all the sights, well, no sound other than the teenager like belch he made while Kim accepted her spouse award. It was funny. His cousins who are 12 and 13 thought it was super cool.
We then made our way to the hotel where Grandma and Aunt Brenda babysat him for an hour so Nate and I could run out for my birthday lunch/dinner. It was 4pm and we had not had lunch yet so that is why it was lunch/dinner. We got to go to Houlihans which is a restaurant we used to go to all the time back in our dating days in Atlanta. That was fun. We quickly got back to the hotel with a few minutes to spare because we had to change so we could go to the retirement party. Will was a complete champ.
Sunday we did breakfast with Grandma and Aunt Bren and then packed up to get in the car to head over to Joey and Kim's for a visit before leaving. We made our way back to Northern Virginia where we had two Christmas parties to attend. We hit the first one on the way back into town, ran home to change and then made our way to the second one. We ended up getting home and in bed well after 10pm. I kept expecting Will to have a meltdown but he never really did. Sunday was church , then lunch with friends, home for what felt like a moment, retrieving Bailey from the puppy hotel, back to church for the Christmas performance, reception following to say goodbye to one of favorite ministers who's going to a different church, Will home to get a bath and I ran to the grocery store. Exhale. I'm tired just thinking about it! Oh, then we had to watch the Survivor finale...of course!
Will is a trooper. We are calling him king pooper trooper because on the way home from PA we experiened a diaper explosion like none seen before. Ahh the joys of parenthood. Below are some pictures from our time in PA with the family.
