Virginia Christmas
For the first time, we decided to do Christmas in Virginia. While we love spending the holidays with our family and can't imagine missing it, it is also important to us to start building these moments, memories and traditions for our children in our own home especially since Will understands it more this year.
To reconcile the desire to be in two places at the same time, we decided to have our own Christmas here in Virginia the week prior. We sent Santa a letter and he was surprisingly willing to accommodate our request. It was so much fun. Mommy and Daddy enjoyed preparing for the festivities and Will loved sitting on the stairs, peeking to see his Santa gifts and excitedly hurrying downstairs to his "peasents."
We have decided that while the babes are little we are going to get them a new Christmas movie every year and it will be the last gift opened. This year the new movie was Polar Express. Oh my goodness the elation and joy that came from having a special treat of chocolate milk and trail mix (popcorn from our new popcorn maker, pretzels and Christmas m&ms) picnic on the floor and watching the "choo choo movie." It was such a special day and a great way to launch the week of Christmas.
