Six Weeks

Six weeks. That's supposedly a magical number in the world of babies. It seems six weeks is when they shrug off the fragility of being a newborn and start to come into their own as an infant. Laura still seems so tiny to me but she definitely is a lot sturdier and her sweet personality is beginning to emerge. I think it takes six weeks for Mom and Dad to adjust from survival mode to the reality that we now have TWO kids and are on man to man defense. Yikes! It has not taken Will six weeks to adore his "baby Lawa." His heart is already protective and affectionate towards her which is so endearing. It helps that he's endearing in that regard because it felt like we came home from the hospital to a different toddler. Gone was our sweet boy and a defiant, testy two year old was there in his place. His regression, or acting out, has been his behavior. It's been tough but I'm hopeful as we continue to learn how to best balance our time and attention he will continue to improve. He's always been strong willed and this is a big change for someone so little, heck, it's a big change for all of us.

Laura continues to wrap all of us around her tiny fingers. From her coos, smiles and cuddles we are all hopelessly hers. And the sweetest part is that it all comes full circle as her fussiest of moments can be instantly quieted with a little attention from her big brother. This makes the exhaustion, frustration, tears and exhaustion (did I say that already???) worth it.

Laura got her first cold at 6 weeks - it was absolutely pitiful and there was very LITTLE sleep to be found by anyone but Will who successfully recharged and woke up ready to go...

Will was enthralled. It actually took him a little while to finish his pizza he was so distracted by Snoopy and the show. I've never seen him not inhale pizza before.

Such a charmer with those smiles

Brotherly Love (I feel sorry for the boys she brings home one day. Between her big brother and her Daddy they don't stand a chance.)

I love the countenance of Will as he loves on his "Baby Lawa"--such control and tenderness especially noted since coming from such an active little boy!

Love you guys....

So sweet! Funny how big brothers seem to have the magic touch. Just think about the other little girls w/ big bros and how they (the girls) are enthralled by them!
